The International Cosplay League is an international cosplay competition organised by Japan Weekend - one of the largest events of its kind in Spain. The qualifiers for the Madrid finals at Ryucon have become a tradition - it is here that Poland’s representatives are selected to compete on the international stage.
Competitors compete in two categories - SOLO and DUO - vying not only for cash prizes, but above all for the chance to represent Poland amongst cosplayers from around the world.
This year’s qualifiers are of a special nature. Due to the modernisation of the venue where Japan Weekend takes place, the competition finals have been postponed until 2027. This means more time to refine the final costumes and prepare for the performance. It is also an opportunity for minors - if they turn 18 before the 2027 finals, they too can take part in the qualifiers.
The winner of the SOLO category will be awarded the title of Polish representative and will compete in the International Cosplay League final in Madrid, showcasing their costume on the international stage.
The winning duo will be awarded the title of Polish representatives and will travel to Madrid to compete against the best duos from around the world.
The winners will receive a trip to Madrid and the chance to compete for prizes of up to €1,000 in the SOLO category and €2,000 in the DUO category.
Second place for the participant who stands out for their high standard of performance and attention to detail.
A prize for the duo who demonstrate a high standard of both performance and costume craftsmanship.
Ryucon Cosplay Dragons is Ryucon’s international cosplay competition, in which contestants from across the country and around the world take to the stage to compete for the title in four categories. It is a spectacle brimming with stage energy, craftsmanship, creativity and cosplay competition at the highest level - a dragon arena where both costume craftsmanship and the power of presentation count.
Previously known as Standard, from 2024 the competition will be open to participants from all over the world, creating a space where Polish cosplayers can take on the international scene at the heart of Ryucon.

‘Debut’ is Ryucon’s cosplay competition designed for those who are just starting out on the scene. It’s the first step towards bigger challenges, the first taste of the spotlight, and the first encounter with the dragon-themed audience.
It is here that new faces in cosplay have the opportunity to showcase their skills, take to the stage and compete for their first contest victory. Without the pressure of international competition - but with full support and the space to demonstrate their potential.
The main prize for the person who demonstrates the greatest craftsmanship and stage presence.
Multi-techniques, various materials, precision of execution and extraordinary solutions - all these elements make up this category. You can win with an entire costume or a specific element crafted to an otherworldly standard.
You can expect a thorough assessment of every stitch, choice of fabric and tailoring techniques, as it is in this category that all these aspects are taken into account.
